Bible Verse: Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Micah 7:8

This time I was determined to hold on longer. If I just get a good grip on the bar and then start swinging my legs, I will be able to move from one bar to the next with determination and make it all the way across the monkey bars!
I don’t know if my palms were sweaty or if once I started swinging my legs I just lost my grip. We had an asphalt playground. The kind that can become blistering hot after soaking up the sun for even a short time. I don’t know how long I laid on that hot asphalt before someone noticed me. The next thing I remember is being in the nurse’s office and my mom and the nurse deciding how to get me to the hospital.
I fell a lot as a child. I fell off my horse twice and had a concussion both times. I fell off my bike and had 12 stitches in my leg. I even fell going up the stairs once and broke my big toe!
Today when I fall, it is not a physical problem but a spiritual one. It is so easy to fall into sin. I blow it daily. I might be going along just fine, thinking “Hey, I am being a good Christian” and then suddenly, my mouth opens and out fall words that are not kind.
Satan loves it when we fall, he runs over and instead of helping you up, he whispers in your ear words of shame and guilt. He tells you that you are a loser and that nobody believes in you. He tells you that you can’t get up and that you are doomed.
Do not let the enemy gloat over you! When we refuse to listen to Satan’s lies we can rise above the murk of despair and shake off the weight of guilt. The more we do this, the less harmful the falls become. Before long, our falls become little stumbles.
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” John 8:1
Remember the next time you fall that the Lord is your light in the darkness. Get up, dust off the guilt and shame and stand tall, adjust your crown and remember you are the daughter/son of the most high King.
Heavenly Father, Victory is ours today! Let there be light on my truth today. I rise today in your strength. Shine in me your greatness! Lord, hear my prayers. Amen
